Fox wins rights to remake 1980’s Classic Escape From New York.
Snake Plissken is set to make a come back in the streets of New York as Fox wins Rights to remake the 1981 cult classic. Those who were teens in the eighties might be familiar with this name, however, if the name Plissken does not ring a bell, let me refresh your memory.
Escape To New york starring a young Kurt Russell was directed by John Carpenter and was released in 1981. It managed to get some success but only reached cult like status a few years later. Here is the story line:
In 1997,crime ridden New York has become a maximum security prison and a no man’s land where no one ever gets out alive. When the presidential plane is brought down by convicts, one eye patched Snake is sent on rescue mission in order to get the head of state and his crew out of this hell hole alive.
John Carpenter is set to work as executive producer and consultant on the set of the new Escape From New York. Nothing as transpired so far as to who will reprise the role of Snake Plissken.
